Chip Miller

Originally from Paterson, New Jersey, with a BFA from Manhattan's School of Visual Arts, Miller is a multiple award-winning film, television, content, commercial, documentary, live concert, and music video director, producer, screenwriter, editor, music producer, music supervisor, former film development exec, Madison Ave ad agency creative director, and partner/founder at Desert C.A.M. Studios, a top production and post-production facility in Burbank and Palm Desert, CA. Miller is also a recording artist with popular Brit-inspired alt rock band, Old Sand Mill. He studied briefly with Norman Rockwell and had an original painting on display at the Smithsonian Institute's Aerospace Division in Washington, DC for 15 years. He moved to Hollywood in the early 80's to pursue his film career. With a full development and production slate of high-profile feature films, TV programs, TV concert specials, and a live-action, drama series for in 2025, his key projects include: "A Stranger's Path," a family friendly theatrical movie written by Miller and to be directed by Kevin Sorbo set for mid-2025. Miller just completed his authorized script for "Extension of a Man: The Music & Brief Life of Donny Hathaway" for Desert C.A.M. Studios and producers Terrell Edwards and Kevin Wachs, projected for a Spring 2025 shoot. He also wrote a stage play adaptation for a 2025 tour based on the Hathaway story. "Ride to Justice," an indie action drama biker film written by Miller from a story by he and Allen Plone, goes into production in April 2025. Miller will direct this Lionsgate release. He is also set to helm "The Butterfly and Goliath," an indie film in late 2025. He has a documentary in the works, "A Hero Named Louis," and an original western, "The Californian" - a story co-written with actor Liam Neeson. Previously optioned by Clint Eastwood's Malpaso Films, and then Penny Marshall's Parkway Pictures at Sony, the script was rebooted for a 2025/2026 shoot in Canada. Neeson will co-produce. "Nobody Wrote It Down: True Tales of Black Pioneers," a docudrama drama series co-written with multiple Grammy-winning African American recording artist, Dom Flemons, who's hit 2019 Grammy nominated album, "Black Cowboys" served as inspiration for the program. Flemons will also be an on-screen host, and actress Shari Belafonte co-produces. "Zhohi Shoon-Kah," a theatrical motion picture screenplay co-written with indigenous award-winning Native American singer/songwriter, and best-selling pop star, Jana Mashonee. It was originally developed as a live-action series for Amazon Prime Studios, now projected for a 2026 shoot. "The True Tale of Bass Reeves," a 2025 content feature film for major streaming platforms, also co-written with multiple Grammy-winning African American recording artist, Dom Flemons for Desert C.A.M. Studios. "Golden Swan: A Harlem Story," is a limited -series based on the best-selling Double Day novel, "Harlem" by the late Len Riley. It was previously in development with Motown producer, Suzanne DePasse, but now in re-imagining at Desert C.A.M. Studios. Miller wrote the pilot teleplay for, "The Marriage Zone," in development as a sci-fi comedy series based on the hit stage play by Jeff Gould. Miller will direct. Project is slated for 2025. "Devil in Disguise," is an indie movie and true story about Elvis Presley during his Army years, in development. "The Great Silence of Harry Gleeson," is a true biopic on Ireland's first posthumous pardon of a man hanged for murder 75 years ago, and who was recently exonerated by the President of Ireland. Gleeson was Miller's 107-year-old Grandmother's younger brother. "Loudmouth: The Odyssey of Morton Downey, Jr.," is a content biopic originally developed at Fox TV Pictures/FX Channel, and scripted by Miller. Also In development is: "Scotch and Soda: A Story about The Kingston Trio", being scripted by Miller and Allen Plone. The Trio is the 3rd best-selling artist in Capitol Records history, along with The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, and The Beatles. Miller directed four TV concert PBS specials with The Kingston Trio, a documentary, and numerous music videos, as well as captured the historic last performance of Bob Shane, the Trio's founder, who passed in 2020. Miller's new 2024 script, "Life On A Fast Lane," is a biopic of former NJ bowling champion, Bob Perry.
